Charlie Sheen, in all of his bizarre glory, will grace our television screens for yet another interview this week, this time on ABC?s 20/20. The sit-down is scheduled for Tuesday night at 10/9c.
After watching his relatively incoherent chat with ?Today? this week, I?m beginning to wonder if he ever acted a day in his life. Was it a character he was portraying in Hot Shots, or was it simply just him?
Monday?s interview, which will function as a precursor for the ABC special, was strangely intriguing. A clearly miffed Charlie spat out the twisted logic that he felt entitles him to more money and, well, more power.
Rather than being stuck pretending he isn?t a ?rock star from mars,? this ?special? actor feels that he should be paid 33% more an episode??take it or leave it.?
Oh, and you can put down your calculators, it comes out to about $3 million a show.
Honestly folks, I?ve never even seen his show. I grew up watching him do a half dozen or so decent movies, but I never felt that he was God?s answer to the comedic actor.
It?s fair to say that 20/20 is a tad more serious than ?Today.? One is known for its award winning journalism, and the other, well, the former host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. That begs the question: will the folks at ABC challenge him more?
I?d say it?s a possibility. The most serious question posed by ?Today? was whether or not he ever showed up on the set of ?Men? high or drunk. I think those of us who are following the story are thirsty for a little more.
As soon as it is posted online, I?ll embed the Charlie Sheen 20/20 video. Until then, you can pore over the gem from ?Today.?
