The 25 year old professional dancer has been the winner three times and many devoted fans are sad to see him go. He will be spending the spring filming the movie ?Cobu 3D? which he is excited about because he will be learning some new dancing skills!
Instead of teaching a celebrity to shake it, he will be portraying a street dancer in New Orleans who falls in love with an Asian drummer, played by BoA. He has gained 10 lbs. of muscle for the part and will be seen in a darker light.
What do the producers think of Derek Hough leaving ?Dancing with the Stars?? Executive producer Conrad Green said:
?We wish Derek the best as he takes time off from ?Dancing with the Stars? to pursue his film career and look forward to having him return to the show in the fall.?
He seems excited to have this opportunity but also looks forward to getting back to the show he loves so much.

We heard about the possibility of Derek Hough leaving ?Dancing with the Stars? last year, but this time it looks like it will definitely happen. At least we know he is coming back.
