We begin the Episode 12 recap of Survivor: Redemption Island at Night 30 on RI. Ralph joins Matt and Mike, telling them how Phillip went nuts about the rice. Then Steve shows up! As Mike discusses the Jury Pool, Ralph hopes for a chance to get back in The Game. Meanwhile, at Murlonio Beach, the six original Ometepe members celebrate their clean sweep of the Zapatera Tribe. Then Natalie starts to cry as she breaks down emotionally. The End Game, missing her family, it?s all weighing heavily on the 19-year-old. Boston Rob Mariano tries to console her, he still needs her for his own End Game.
Day 31 and a Sprint 4-G smart phone comes as tree-mail. Along with an announcement concerning the next duel on Redemption Island, there are also video messages from loved ones. The guys on RI also get a phone with videos, too. The duel itself is a break-the-tiles game by tossing a ball. First to break all four wins a visit with their loved one. The next two stay in The Game, the loser joins the Jury. Mike wins with four straight tosses. Matt and Ralph both succeed after six tosses. Steve is out and throws his buff in the fire.
Now Jeff Probst rewards Mike as his mother appears. But before they embrace, Jeff gives Mike two other choices. If he sacrifices his visit, then either Mat and Ralph may be with their loved ones, or the entire Ometepe survivors get the privilege. Mike does not think long and tells Jeff he wants to benefit the most, so he agrees and lets the Omies have visits from their family members. Jeff and the rest are shocked, but Mike?s Mom understands and is proud of her son.
Back at the Redemption Island campsite, Ralph fumes over Mike?s choice. Matt has a hard time understanding it as well. But Mike is convinced he did the right thing. Over at Camp Murlonio, the gang show their loved ones around, giving them the grand tour. Everyone gets a big lift in spirit. Rob tells his sister his plot to win.
Day 32 and tree-mail announces the next Immunity Challenge. Rob?s plan for today is to make sure Andrea does not win, because she is the target for being booted first. The event itself is a grueling race, first to fetch three sets of puzzle planks, then assemble each set in order up a steep, tall staircase. First to finish and reach the top wins. Rob, Grant and Andrea get an early lead and remain competitive. The rest eventually give up in the 110-degree sunshine. Rob has a slight lead with just two planks left to go. He literally struggles and nearly crawls to finish the last one. Rob?s victory has a price. His body is trashed and cramps up. Jeff looks him over and Rob is given water. After declining a check-up from the medics, Rob asks for help to stand up. He is shaky but recovers quick enough.
The walk back to camp is a rainy one. Rob is feeling better. The plan is still on for booting Andrea, who thinks Phillip is the target. Speaking of Phillip, he starts to get bossy again. First he messes around with the shelter, then complains loudly about the fishing nets. He is deliberately being annoying, thinking that will keep Rob off-balance. He knows that by being The Villain, Rob will bring him along to the Final Three. But now Rob is having serious thoughts about dumping Phillip now, in order to keep the rest of his team happy.
At Tribal Council, Jeff raises the subject of how the Ometepe Six must now start to vote off their own. Andrea is confident in the relationships she has developed. Natalie says that tonight?s vote will be the hardest. Phillip starts up again with another tale of his prowess, this time commanding 1,500 men in the Army, or something to that effect. Andrea says she?s not worried about being seen as highly competitive in Challenges, After all, they still have to worry about beating whoever returns from Redemption Island. Phillip says he is the most trustworthy. Rob is glad he has the immunity necklace.
It is time to vote. We see none. Jeff starts counting. The first name drawn is Andrea. Then comes one for Phillip. The next three are all Andrea. She was blind-sided! Oddly enough, the last few Tribal Council?s, the first person?s name read by Jeff has been the safe one.
We wrap up this recap of Episode 12 of Survivor: Redemption Island with spoilers for next week. Boston Rob Mariano is getting more worried about his game plan. Tensions are high as arguments break out. It appears that Ashley and Phillip may find themselves in hot water.
